stop doing shit you hate

“I HATE exercise. I don’t want to sweat. I despise burpees”

As a #femalepersonaltrainer, a good amount of my ladies have an “exercise allergy” believing that worthwhile results require an absurd amount of Discipline, Sacrifice, a lot of White Knuckling with an extra serving of Deprivation.

And to be REAL, I USED to BELIEVE that with all MY being. As a #triathlete, I needed to starve more, move more, be lighter and faster. Tired? That’s for pussies. Rest Days? #nodaysoff is more like it B. Yep, I rode that tidal wave 🌊 for a real fucking long time, through #ulcerativexcolitis and #ostomy surgery, and countless hormonal issues and muscle injuries.

I guess you could say I just got tired. Exhausted from the rat race; emotionally drained from the constant flight or fight mode I put my body through.

Shit, I was probably just burnt out. I got to a point where there was no light at the end of the tunnel and so at the start of 2020, I decided to pursue activities I enjoyed or activities that I wanted to be better at. Swimming – dislike it, so I STOPPED DOING it. Frequent lifting – with minimal home equipment is a big fucking letdown while trying to “keep gains” had me more stressed, so I said screw it and I switched to YOGA.

I became selective in how I dispersed my energy & protective of where I dolled out those energy bands. And I decided to go #allin in my business and for once, probably since #collegetuition days, I invested in myself, my #trueself, not investing in how I hoped my #body would look. Um 😐 hey hey now – I still get my hair did 💁🏽‍♀️💇🏽‍♀️ that’s #nonnegotiable 🤪😄 (the basics don’t count right ? 😉)

And in this picture right here, it embodies all the feels that cycling has always returned to me. Cycling is one of the very few physical exercises that both empty and fill by energy tank simultaneously.

It’s been about a month since we restarted our weekly Wednesday morning ride and I am grateful for it.

I coach my tribe to respect ✊ their minds & bodies. I am their ally in creating customized wellness solutions that honor their wants, needs, likes & dislikes.

And hey BB – STOP doing the shit you hate. 💋
