are you making quitting your habit?

If you are trying to improve your health and you keep quitting, I challenge you to ask if you’ve determined a big enough REASON WHY you want a change.

In my 3M method as an Oahu based personal and virtual health and wellness trainer and coach, our #mindfulness work together will include drilling down to determine your all in “why.”

Here are a few of my clients “BIG WHYS:”

“I want to be the one in front – leading my family with fitness and health.”

“I want to be healthy so that I’m an example for my kids to want to also be active and healthy”

“I want to be healthy so I can conceive.”

The next time your tempted to quit, try these 3 things:

#1. Focus on your actions rather than on the outcome. Break your process down into smaller steps and then even smaller steps (micro habits). For example, instead of saying I’m going to eat healthy all week, make it really simple like I’m going to have an extra half cup of veggies with my dinner.

Fixating solely on the end goal always leads to quitting.

#2. Find or build your tribe! Seek out new people outside of your existing circle who will support you through the struggles and celebrate your wins.

#3. Manage your expectations. Women are terrible at giving themselves credit. We are focused on how much more we have to go.

Celebrate your successes. Journal your progress. Take pictures. List out your achievements. And don’t focus solely on health goals. Applaud all of your victories of all sizes in all realms – family wins, work wins, kid wins, health wins – all wins are wins!

#4. Create your power statement. We will get to places of wanting to quit. There will be times during rough days when we just want to stay in bed, drink wine and eat chocolate. In these times, use your power statement to help you out of a funk.

Here are a few of mine:

“Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love.” – Brené Brown

The challenge is not to be perfect — it is to be whole.” – Jane Fonda

We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.” Dolly Parton

What’s your power statement? I would love to hear yours to add to my personal list.
