What is the best workout routine for women?
Clients come to me and want to be skinny and lose weight. They are convinced that the way to this goal is by doing lots of cardio and eating real little calories.
There is no one-size-fits-all workout routine that every woman should do. BUT, first and foremost, your training should ALWAYS include strength training and your focus should be on building muscle to burn off your fat, not starving your fat through excessive cardio and minimal calories.
So again, The best workout routine for women will always include strength training because strength training has all of these amazing benefits:
-increase muscle mass
-improve body shape – tighter, smaller, leaner
So this Leads to the next question I get all of the time – can I train the same way as my boyfriend, husband, brother???
The female body is not genetically designed to build muscle in the same way as men. You do not have to worry about getting bulky with strength training. So, if these workout buddies are strength training, go get em!
The reality is that some women can get to the gym while others need to workout at home with minimal equipment. As long as the workout routine you choose has a foundation of strength training, you will see results. You can add in other elements to your workouts based on your preferences, but strength training is the key to reaching and maintaining your fitness goals.
