I remember when I started my live and die by the scale dieting in 1997. Jenny Craig told me not to lift weights because we were focused on hitting that magical number on the scale. I am sure it’s different now, but I remember all of these statements running through my head.
And it’s come full circle as I hear many of my ladies telling me the same things. Have you ever thought any of these?
“I want longer, leaner muscles.”
“I don’t want to get bigger.”
“I don’t want to gain more muscle. I just want to tone the muscle I already have.”
“I don’t want to lift weights because I don’t want to get “big and bulky.”
Because I myself have believed these very things to be true for a really freaking long time, it has allowed me to be a better coach to the women that I work with.
Here is the 3 step process I use with my tribe:
Step 1 Listen and Ask: What about lifting weights makes you feel nervous? Have you had this experience in the past?”
Step 2: Personal Preferences and Personality: We chat so that I can learn more about what you really want to achieve, and your reasons why.
Step 3: Collaborate and Compromise: Marrying my coaching philosophy with your needs and wants, we work closely together to create a plan of action that is best for you, mentally and physically.
My Inner Circle this week will receive the deep dive into a little bit of the science and research that will 100% dispel the myths above as well give my readers a FREEBIE that you can try on your own!
