just because you’ve always done it that way before…

Just because you’ve always done it that way before, doesn’t mean that it’s the best way to do it.

There are so many ways to exercise.

There are even more ways to diet.

Last night at our Honolulu Metro BNI pau Hana, we were chatting about the “best diet.”

There were discussions on what people have tried in the past. What had been successful for them before. And even some talk along the lines of “when I’m serious about (insert diet here), it works.”

I love these talks because it’s an opportunity for me to help others understand that there is no one best way. And more importantly, just because you’ve done it before, or have always done it, doesn’t mean it’s the best way for you. YOU. Your unique self.

Eating and moving is simple. Eat well. Move often. But there is no one clear cut way to do those things. The only best way will be the best way for you. And in my experience, it takes a lot of peaks 🏔 and valleys to figure that out.

So don’t beat yourself up about it. Give yourself a lot of grace. And don’t get stuck on doing what you’ve always done. Be open minded to trying another way!
