how do i track rice, Lee-Ann…cooked, uncooked???

I’ve been onboarding several clients who joined my #summershredmacros 6 week program and it’s been so fun 🤩!

Lots of macro newbie questions and I’m here for it! It’s always great to refresh my knowledge even as an OG macro counting gal myself!

Today’s question: How do I track rice, Lee-Ann?

Cooked rice has far less calories per gram than the same amount uncooked due to a higher water content in cooked rice.

To calculate the macros in cooked rice myself, I cooked 100g of the white rice I buy 🍚 using the local way to measure how much water I use (the first line on my middle finger). This equaled about 350g of cooked rice. I did the macro math to calculate 1g of cooked rice and created a “White Rice Cooked”’entry into My Macros Plus.

I often see clients getting tripped up with this entry, sometimes eating way more rice carbs than they realize due to this error of using cooked and logging as uncooked or vice-versa.

Do yourself a favor and save your previous head space on macro stuff like this and give me a follow on the MM+ app. I’m 24Cycle! And better yet, sign up for my Summer Shrrd 6 week macros program today! It’s never too late to start!
