good vibes and tan lines

During my Friday check-in call with my amazing coach @janellefitmarks, I had a mini breakthrough… if I’m not preparing for a race, training or dieting for a specific goal, studying for a big test, awaiting a decision on an entry exam… this-that-more-bigger-better-faster-stronger… then I feel lost 😞 like really lost. As tho’ my life has no real purpose or meaning.

I’ve gotten so used to the chase, that I never really stopped to figure out who I am without it.

I had to really sit with that…

What does Lee-Ann like to do besides lift weights and do macros?

Who is Lee-Ann outside of being a trainer and a client herself?

It’s been a much tougher think tank than I imagined it would be. To figure out what I like to do that doesn’t require a physical output of my energy. Something that replenishes my tank not depletes it, in any way, shape or form. Many of my “hobbies” have been attached to exercise.

Slowly, a few things started to surface – the beach and books. I love to read and I enjoy the beach.

Over the last 2 decades, the beach had simply become another “gym” training for triathlon, swimming which is something I do not enjoy (go figure 😝) .

And reading has been for the sole purpose for professional experience (I’ve done 4 professional certifications in the last year and a half).

I had lost all the fun in these two areas that used to make me really happy.

So today I laid on the beach and read a book that had nothing to do with muscles or macros. I went in the water once because I really wanted to not because I had to get mileage in.

And ya know what? I had a real fucking good time.

What book are you reading right now? I’m re-reading The Big Leap so I can chat about it with @cm_krause ❤️
