let’s talk about tracking weight

Let’s talk tracking your weight. Since joining @thewonderwomenofficial, I’ve weighed myself daily for over 200 days now. When I first realized I had to do this, I was terrified. You see, me and the scale had a love hate relationship for all of my life.

And at first, I thought I would be able to get out of it. Explain my fear to my Coach @janellefitmarks and I would be given a pass.

So when I brought it up and we discussed it, I had my first breakthrough – why did I sign up for this program if I had already planned to do things the way I’ve always done them? And old Lee-Ann would never weigh and if she did, she would run 6-8 miles before hopping on the scale. My weighing back then was never my truth. I spent a long time living in denial and out of my integrity.

I’m glad that Janelle gave me a gentle nudge and I’m freaking proud of myself for taking that first big leap to start this a new way. Daily check-ins have given me so much data about my body and it’s unique daily fluctuating weight shifts.

This is my friendly reminder to you that one of the easiest ways to drive yourself bat 🦇 shit 💩 crazy 😜 in your fitness journey is to obsess over daily shifts in your weight. BECAUSE as I have seen first-hand, the daily shifts often have nothing to do with gaining or losing fat or muscle!

Slight swings in water retention, glycogen levels, and your bathroom habits can produce noticeable ups and downs on the scale.

A much better way to look 👀 at your body weight is as a trend over durations of time.

And when you do start tracking this data, be sure to:

1. Weigh yourself first thing in the morning every 2-3 days, naked, after the bathroom and before eating or drinking anything. Record that data on a spreadsheet or in your phone.

2. Every two weeks, determine your average weight to review your weight trend.

3. Consider adding in a few key tape measurements as the scale weight alone doesn’t always reflect progress.

3. Set yourself up for success and hire an expert who can help you do this!

Having a Coach to lift you up; talk you off the ledge all while helping you make sense out of your data is PRICELESS. It was the best decision I’ve made for myself!
