if you tell yourself it will suck and be hard, then it will be even suckier and harder

I’m listening to the Huberman podcast episode with Layne Norton. It’s an over 3 hour discussion of a lot of great stuff. One discussion they touched upon was the fact that what you THINK and TELL yourself can be just as powerful as causing those very things to happen.

Like if you do something that sucks or is hard and you keep saying over and over “This sucks. This is so hard” you are in fact creating more suck and more hard for yourself.

You can complain and stay the same. OR you can complain and then do something about it.

Which camp are you in?

I posted pics of me doing deadlifts. I’ve had a few injuries from deadlifts over the years. So naturally, I’m fearful of them. What I know better is I can fear them and instead of allowing that fear to cripple me (I can’t do deadlifts anymore), I use my fear as data. I lower the weight. I lay off if I need to. I swap the exercise out with another one. But I never ever think “Deadlifts suck. I always get injured when I do them. I can’t do them. “

What you tell yourself matters more than you may think!
