being motivated to do the thing IS the short-cut

We can learn from other disciplines especially when trying to create a new habit, forge a new path. Make an uncomfortable change…

I came across the great passage below that I believe we can apply to an “obstacle” we may be facing when creating something new.

For myself and the clients I serve, it’s food and exercise – doing it when you are in the mood is easy and that is the short cut. Doing it when it’s hard, when you don’t want to – that’s where the magic happens!

What are you creating this year? WHAT ARE YOU RELEASING?

Prolific writer Joyce Carol Oates on motivation following action:

“One must be pitiless about this matter of “mood.” In a sense, the writing will create the mood. … I have forced myself to begin writing when I’ve been utterly exhausted, when I’ve felt my soul as thin as a playing card, when nothing has seemed worth enduring for another five minutes … and somehow the activity of writing changes everything.”
