Why should we care about protein?
Protein helps build, repair, and maintain muscle. It contains 4 calories per gram.
If you are trying to lose weight, adequate protein intake is a must to prevent muscle loss while in a calorie deficit. High protein intake supports fat loss.
It’s also important to eat enough protein if you are trying to build muscle.
Protein keeps you feeling full longer, controlling your appetite so you are less likely to snack or feel hungry right after eating.
