body positivity starts with awareness

The body positivity movement can sometimes be used as a shield 🛡.

It has been argued that if you are trying to lose weight, you must hate your body or yourself for that matter.

I disagree.

I am enough.

I have much gratitude for my body.

I appreciate myself.

And I can still strive for more.

I can desire something new.

Let’s not body shame people for that!

I feel okay in my body today.

Tomorrow, I may feel different.

I knew this woman whose beauty I admired. I always thought 💭 “I wish I looked like her. I wish I had her body.”

But she did not feel the same about herself.

I couldn’t believe how many times she told me about despising her body. Pointing out flaws I could never see.

Isn’t this how many of us feel?

Can we be allowed to feel many things at once?

Can we feel different things at different times?

My Coach @janellefitmarks shared some great insight on her stories today. If you haven’t watched it yet, head over to see.

Janelle speaks about viewing our bodies from various moments in time without being quick to judgement.

I used to tell myself “Lee-Ann, if you don’t have any expectations (of things, situations, mostly of people), than you’ll never be let down and disappointed.”

I USED to believe that “trait” was one of the most positive characteristics of mine.

Now I know better.

I used that as my own shield to deflate all of my big hopes and dreams.

That shield kept me playing small; chasing small and trying to always be small.

The works starts from within. 🔥❤️💪🏾🤙🏾

Remember, we can appreciate our bodies now and also want something more.

We can love ourselves today and feel different tonight.

Don’t get so caught up with a fleeting moment in time.

It starts with being aware.
