invisible illness pt 2

Last week I wrote about bumping into Mr. Grumpy. I’ve had the time to release my anger through weekly therapy; during multiple inversions at The Hang Out and just with the plain ole passing of time.

I can hear the song playing in my head…

If you’re lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I will be waiting
Time after time

My lemons into lemonade moment came this month. After whining about Mr. Grumpy, I was asked to speak at the monthly meeting for The Hawaii BOBS Connect.

The Hawaii BOBS Connect is a monthly support group for those living with Ostomy, Bowel and Bladder surgeries and conditions. The group leaders wanted me to discuss Fitness with an Ostomy and Triathlon with an Ostomy.

On February 12, 2017, I was able to realize one of my #reasons. A room of about thirty people; various ages, different sizes, various abilities, and diverse interests, allowed me to spend 30 minutes discussing with them, the very things that I love – fitness and triathlon!

We started with a dynamic warm-up to Rocky’s famous “Eye of the Tiger” before we settled into the nitty gritty. In this moment, we all shared an unspoken bond. In the end, I was their proof just as before me, someone was my own proof. Proof that “there is nothing we can’t do.”
