when do i eat after a workout?

When it comes to post-workout nutrition timing, eating within 1-2 hours after your workout is usually the most optimal for recovery, but isn’t necessarily required if you’re hitting your protein and carb goals throughout the day.

Your post-workout meal should be heavy on carbs and protein but lower in fat.

Sometimes, I don’t feel hungry after an epic lift, so my go-to is a protein shake mixed with fruit. I know better now deep in my 40s that my post workout fuel is instrumental in building lean muscle. 💪🏾

I’m often told by clients that it’s too hard for them to eat first thing in the morning before their early bird workout.

I tell them it’s a-ok to be fasted and exercise AS LONG AS THEY PRIORITIZE getting in a hefty dose of proteins and carbs at dinner the night before!

And to also be solid about getting in their post workout fuel immediately after their fasted workout!

Far too often, we get tied up after exercise with all the stuff that needs are attention. We tend to push back that post workout meal and before ya know it, 3 hours has gone by and your stomach is growling!

Remember, your gains are made in the kitchen! 🤙🏾🔥🌈🌺
