success is not always winning, it’s about failing too

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm” – Winston Churchill

In my high school mechanical engineering class, my teacher started off every day with this saying “If you aren’t failing at least 9 out of 10 times a day, you aren’t succeeding.”

Decades later, mechanical engineering didn’t stick with me (who was I kidding, I hate math) but his mantra always did.

Failing is hard. It’s scary and it sometimes really messes with my head. Over the years though, I’ve learned to see it as a teachable moment versus a burden.

Had I not have even tried and failed in the first place, would I even know what I was capable of?

If I had given up and never revisited the “failure” would I be the person I am today?

Many women I work with have blamed themselves for failed diets and failed weight loss. I urge them to revisit this #mindset. What did we learn from these experiences?

When we start seeing failure as just another event and not an end, then you will never run out of enthusiasm. Knowing that the road ahead is difficult and laid with bumps, you are fully prepared to face them and drive through.
