love your belly

As far back as I can remember, I’ve always had belly rolls.

I remember wishing upon a star that I would wake up without them.

I recall thinking I could just use a steak knife to cut them off (when I was in elementary school before I knew anything about lipo).

I spent decades in starvation and extreme exercise (still working on this; it’s really a lifelong journey 😉)

Now in my 40s (Omg did I type that out loud), I’m getting more comfortable in my skin; and my ever changing body.

This belly has persevered through bleeding ulcers, colon removal surgery, and in recent years, a 5 month loss of identical twin boys 😭 so I guess you could say:

I give absolutely ZERO fucks about what others think of my body and my stomach.

Do you know that belly rolls when seated or bent over are very common?

When you stand up tall, your torso is elongated. Your spine is lengthened, and the excess skin and flesh in your midsection are spread out over a long, tall, torso. In fact, practicing good posture is one of the best ways to look thinner right away. So when you sit down, bend over or squat, your torso shortens. All of the skin and flesh that was “stretched out” is now compacted into a smaller space. The result is that you develop a few temporary, fleshy folds.

But here’s the good news: everyone experiences fat rolls when sitting down. Even thin people can get excess fat under their breasts or around the belly button when the spine curves and your midsection is compressed.

Remember BB, your stomach does not have to be perfectly flat to be healthy, your stomach does not have to be perfectly flat for you to love yourself, and  your stomach does not have to be perfectly flat to be confident and beautiful and an all around amazing person.

Just do you boo 🤙🏾❤️
